- Frequent breakouts is often seen with this skin type
- Oily skin will often be shiny and maybe more in the T-zone than on the cheeks
- You can experience large/visible pores. This is partly determined by genes and impacts from outside the skin (read more about this in my post about pores). The pores can however expand if the skin is very oily.
- The skin ages slower than other skin types, since fine lines are often caused by dry skin
Oily skin is caused by overactive, oil-producing glands or sebaceous. This can be slightly regulated with a healthy lifestyle. Persons with this skin type should cleanse the face twice a day to prevent dirt and dust from settling on and in the pores. You should however use an alcohol-free astringent when removing excess oil from the skin if you don’t have a bad case of acne. Be sure to use oil-free moisturizer to avoid adding more grease to the skin. Moisturizer is as important for this skin type as for any other, be sure to use it to prevent the cleansers from drying out the skin.
